Praise God!!!

We just got back from the cardiologist who told us that my heart is completely healthy!!! They did a heart ultrasound, an EKG, and a bunch of other small tests. I only cried a little during the whole experience, but mom and dad said they are very happy that we don't have to ever go back to the cardiologist again.

The eye doctor told us yesterday my eyes appear to be healthy now, but they say there is not much they can tell when I'm still so young.

Next doctor's visit is the geneticist on July 7th. There I get a complete exam and they will tell mom and dad the most about my condition as anyone has up until this point and they will tell us what direction to go in to help take care of me best.

Thanks to all the people who have been praying for me and my family, we all appreciate it so much!!!

One of the major concerns for kids with down syndrome are heart problems; in fact 45% percent of down's kids will have them. So every kid born with downs has to see a cardiologist within the first month of their life. Our first visit to a cardiologist will be next Tuesday at Children's in Columbus. Our local pediatrician sees nothing wrong with her heart now, but he tells us that he honestly can't tell that much just by listening to her heart. So we really don't know that much about her heart yet.

Monday, we go to see an eye doctor, eye problems are another major concern for kids with downs. (To be honest there seem to be a million conerns.) So when you pray for our family this weekend pray that her heart and eyes will both be in perfect health.

Happy Father's Day! Posted by Hello

Back from the doctor's

We just got back from the doctor's. We were suppossed to go tomorrow, but do to a rough night of feeding they squeezed us in today. We now know we have at least three doctors to see: an eye doctor, a cardiologist, and a geneticist. We'll see an eye doctor in town and the other two at Children's in Columbus. The Children's doctors are suppossed to call us to set up an appointment, hopefully they'll be in the next week and hopefully on the same day.

The doctor we saw was really nice today, for starters no heal pricks and then he would apologize every time he made my parents cry. I also gained four ounces (to borrow a phrase from Kelly Smith "Woo Hoo!").

Thanks for all the prayers and encouraging words. Our God is a very good God!

Jaundice

The doctor said the jaundice is all gone, so that is a very good thing. Thank you Jesus!

A note from my father...

Dear friends and family,

The doctor called us today and told us that Lucy has down syndrome. We go see the doctor again on Wednesday where we will begin to map out a course of action, which will more than likely include a few trips to Children’s Hospital in Columbus. God has been more than faithful to us already and we’ve seen Him do numerous miracles, the biggest being Lucy Kay. Thank you all for your prayers; they have held us up!

Blessings,
Kevin, Mandy, and Lucy

It's a Girl! Posted by Hello

Thank You!

My daddy has told me that lots and lots of people are praying for me. I got stuck with some needles this past Friday for some tests they are running on me and they say they should have the results Monday or Tuesday. Mommy and daddy are really nervous about the results and they say waiting by the phone for the call from the doctor will be really tough. They also say I have jaundice, which isn't that serious, but at times they say it feels like the straw that broke the camels back, whatever that means.

So thank you to all the people who are praying for my family and doing all sorts of nice things for us! Mommy and daddy say the prayers are really holding us up, they don't know what they would do without them. They also say pray especilly hard this Monday. Check here to find out the results of the tests.

An Introduction

Hi, My name is Lucy and I was just born one week ago today. I've had a pretty interesting life already (think having an umbilical cord wrapped around your neck during your birth) and I'm sure I'll have plenty more interesting adventures along life's path. I hope to share many of those adventures, along with a bunch of pictures, on this blog site. Since I can't type yet, my parents will be doing much of the posting, so occassionally they might put there two cents in as well.

By the way my dad said I am the greatest Father's Day present ever!
